Collegium Hungaricum Berlin — Long Night of Sciences, June 2024 — With Zsolt Török
A live performance that retold a hundred years of the recorded voice. Zsolt Török played Róbert Gragger’s three-minute reading from 1924 on the touchscreen granular synthesizer he programmed for the Robert Gragger Retu(r)ned installation, while ANEZ improvised with voice and live electronics. The set evolved like the history of sound manipulation itself: bare snippets of the original first, then only the tape techniques of 1950s musique concrète, then effects, time-stretching and granular processing up to today. Between the pieces, Zoltán Demeter explained each historical step to the audience — and afterwards the visitors played the touchscreen themselves.
ANEZ's sound design and Török's live code operate in dialogue — each responding to what the other is generating, neither leading, both shaping the same material from different angles. The result is a structure that couldn't have been planned in advance.
