ANEZ is Anesz Szalai and Zoltán Demeter: a Hungarian experimental electronic duo formed in 2011, with a decade of performances across Europe, Japan, and the USA. Their work spans live electronic improvisation, sound installation, film composition, and contemporary dance — always rooted in the idea that music is a living, reactive process.

New · since 2026
In 2026 we founded MAMA's House in Belezna, a small village in Zala County, south-west Hungary — to bring contemporary art to places where it is hard to reach. It is the house of Anesz's late grandparents, which we renovated with our own hands — and where new sound installations rise in the yard while musical, literary, visual and solo performances move through the house and garden.
The first edition's centrepiece was the Solfeggio Tent: a six-channel sound installation in pink tulle, built around the solfeggio frequencies, with a sofa above a subwoofer that sends a 40 Hz wave through the body. An experimental place of sonic rest — visitors became active participants in the sound rather than passive listeners. It is the prelude to our next installation, Solfeggio Path.
ANEZ closed the evening with an improvised set built entirely from manipulated human voice. Earlier, Fatime Songoro gave a solo performance, weaving fragments and memory into an intimate, shared piece.

2023 — Vorspiel, Berlin
ANEZ's first fully improvised concert, captured as an album — and a duet with two objects: two 1960s TV lamps whose light was triggered by the voice and the instruments in real time, through a Max/MSP patch we wrote for the piece. Plural marked a turning point: away from composed material and toward the radical openness of total live improvisation.
Coming on vinyl in spring 2027 — pressed by Hanaton in Zalaegerszeg — in Zala County, the same county as MAMA's House. A crowdfunding campaign on Hanaton's platform opens soon.

About
ANEZ was formed in Hungary in 2011. Anesz Szalai is a singer, electronic music producer and sound designer. Zoltán Demeter is a bass player, sound designer and music producer. Both have extensive backgrounds in composition and performance, with classical and jazz training — a foundation they have spent years deliberately unlearning in favour of radical improvisation.
Based in Berlin since 2016, they have performed across Europe, Japan, and the USA. Their output spans studio albums, live electronic performance, film composition, and contemporary dance — including releases on Chi-Recordings and Mamazone Recordings, and appearances at festivals and venues across Central Europe. Since 2026 they also run MAMA's House — Open Yard of Sound Art in the Hungarian countryside.
ANEZ has been described by Recorder Magazine as "the flagships of the intellectual electronic music scene" — a reputation built on a practice that refuses fixed forms. Their experimental electronic music has been featured at events in Berlin's underground circuit, including Vorspiel, and written about by international press and labels including 2419 Record Label and Katarkombe Berlin.
