ANEZ — 2012 — Chamber performance
October 2012 — With Eszter Márfi (piccolo flute) & Fanni Edőcs (cembalo)
A chamber music reimagining of ANEZ's experimental pop pieces, performed with classical musicians. The ensemble collapsed the expected distance between experimental electronic music and the classical chamber tradition — using the same structures, the same formality of staging, but with material that came from somewhere entirely different.
Anesz designed and made the costumes worn by all three performers: handcrafted paper, constructed by hand. She also created porcelain puppet-inspired makeup — faces rendered into something between human and object. The visual language of the performance was as considered as the music: what you wore and how you looked were not decoration but score.
The title plays on the baroque chamber sonata — the sonata da camera — music written for a room, for an intimate audience. The work took that idea seriously and pushed it somewhere unexpected.
